Practice & Professional Experience

Zöe’s area of expertise is chemistry, including small molecule pharmaceutical and veterinary chemistry. Zöe also handles subject matter relating to therapeutic/diagnostic methods, process chemistry, antisense RNA technology, polymers, polymorphs and formulation chemistry. Zöe’s clients include academic/research institutes, start-up companies, biotech/pharmaceutical SMEs and larger blue chip companies. 

Zöe joined D Young & Co in 1998 and became a partner in 2004. Zöe’s practice involves drafting, prosecution, oppositions and appeals and freedom to operate opinion work. Zöe also regularly advises small clients on IP due diligence for project acquisitions, investment/licensing opportunities and stock market flotations. 

Qualifications

MA in Natural Sciences, St. Catharine’s College, University of Cambridge.
PhD in organic chemistry, University of Cambridge (Research into porphyrin-based receptors, their synthesis and intracavity chemistry).
Postdoctoral research, University of Cambridge (Investigating a combinatorial approach to synthesising macrocyclic receptors in the presence of transition state analogues).
Certificate in Intellectual Property Law, Queen Mary College, University of London.
European Patent Attorney 2002.
Chartered Patent Attorney 2002.
European Design Attorney.
