Practice & Professional Experience
Lawrence practises in the field of pharmaceuticals where he provides advice to clients on both contentious and non-contentious patent matters. He has acquired considerable experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications for new chemical entities, chemical processes, pharmaceutical formulations and solid state forms. In addition to this, he regularly provides validity and freedom-to-operate opinions in respect of pharmaceuticals and represents clients at oral proceedings before the European Patent Office.
Lawrence joined D Young & Co as an Associate in 2007. Prior to this, he worked in-house at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) for eight years where he provided patent counsel to a broad internal client base. Lawrence gained valuable experience of multi-jurisdictional patent litigation and IP due diligence matters during his time at GSK.
Lawrence has experience advising both multinationals and SMEs in the pharmaceutical field. He has a particular interest in patent term extensions and pharmaceutical regulatory data protection in Europe.
Qualifications
BSc in Chemistry and PhD in Chemistry, Queen Mary College, University of London.
Certificate in Intellectual Property Law, Queen Mary College, University of London.
European Patent Attorney 2006.
Chartered Patent Attorney 2005.
