Jonathan Jackson

Practice & Professional Experience
During his career, Jonathan has worked both in private practice and the Intellectual Property Department of Sony Corporation. Jonathan’s practice mainly concentrates on the drafting and prosecution of patent applications in many jurisdictions around the world. He also has extensive experience of both the appeal and opposition procedures at the EPO.
Jonathan’s clients range from large multi-national companies to smaller start-up companies. He has experience in a wide range of electronics-related technologies including image processing, telecommunications, broadcast technologies, 3D broadcast and display technologies, semi-conductor devices, optical communications and electrical machines.
Jonathan travels regularly to Japan, South Korea and the US to visit clients and to speak at conferences about patent practice.
Jonathan joined D Young & Co in 2006, and became a partner in 2008.
Qualifications
MEng Electronic Engineering, University of Sheffield (specialising in telecommunications and solid state devices and awarded the Sir Frederick Mappin Scholarship by the University of Sheffield).
Certificate in Intellectual Property Law, Queen Mary College, University of London.
European Patent Attorney 2005.
Chartered Patent Attorney 2005.
European Design Attorney.
