Practice & Professional Experience
Jonathan has extensive experience in drafting and obtaining patent applications world-wide and contentious issues including litigation, oppositions, strategic assistance on infringement, licensing issues and due diligence matters. Jonathan specialises in the fields of electronics, software and telecommunications engineering, Internet protocols and applications, image and signal processing, and mobile communications. Jonathan also has litigation experience in the case of Sendo v Orange.
Jonathan joined D Young & Co in 1999 and became a partner in 2002. He has previous experience with Siemens UK and Siemens AG Munich 1995-1999, where he was involved with drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the fields of telecommunications, software, image and signal processing, sensors and radar, optical electronics and automotive engineering, and in opposing European patents relating mobile communications and contentious issues relating to telecommunications standards. Jonathan also has had engineering experience with VSEL 1985-1987 and Siemens UK 1990-1994, working on digital communications systems including mobile radio networks and software development.
Qualifications
BSc in Electronic and Electrical Engineering, and PhD in Communications Research, University of Manchester.
Certificate in Intellectual Property Law (with credit), Queen Mary College, University of London.
European Patent Attorney 1999.
