Welcoming our new dispute resolution & legal team

D Young & Co becomes the first firm of patent and trade mark attorneys to establish a Legal Disciplinary Practice in the UK.

D Young & Co LLP have launched a Dispute Resolution Practice on 01 January 2011. The Dispute Resolution & Legal Group is headed up by Partners Ian Starr and Tamsin Holman, with new recruit Anna Reid joining D Young & Co at Associate level.

The D Young & Co Dispute Resolution & Legal Group has extensive experience in all forms of IP enforcement and exploitation, particularly dispute resolution and general commercial litigation. Partners Ian Starr and Tamsin Holman have over 40 years of relevant IP experience between them.

Jeremy Pennant, Partner and head of Trade Marks, comments:

This development enables D Young & Co to expand our range of services, so that clients can resolve disputes and enforce their rights, without having to employ the services of a separate law firm. Increasingly, clients are requiring us to manage their contentious work, and we will now be able to offer court litigation services as well as the full range of alternative dispute resolution procedures. The ability to do so as a single firm permits us to both strengthen and streamline the services offered to clients in a cost effective manner and to ensure continuity in the quality of service they have come to expect from D Young & Co.
Ian and Tamsin bring a wealth of knowledge and experience and we are excited at the prospect of their arrival. We are also delighted to welcome new recruits Cam Gatta and Anna Reid to expand this new team.

Notes

The introduction of the Legal Services Act provides for the establishment of Legal Disciplinary Practices (LDPs). These allow patent and trade mark attorneys to work together with solicitors in a single firm offering litigation and dispute resolution services. An LDP is a recognised body providing legal services where the owners and managers are not all a single type of legal practitioner.
