Madrid Protocol - Brazil & Canada
Brazil has acceded to the Madrid Protocol, and will join the Madrid System on 02 October 2019. As of this date, it will be possible to designate Brazil under an international registration (IR).
Canada joined the Madrid System on 17 June 2019. The Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) is only authorised to send correspondence to the applicant or an appointed Canadian agent, and not to a foreign representative. Only certain communications will be sent to WIPO. Clients should note that a Canadian agent should therefore be appointed for the Canadian designation to report any correspondence received from CIPO.
