Cambodia to recognise European patents
Cambodia has signed an agreement to allow the validation of European patents in its territory. The agreement means a single European patent application can grant protection in up to 43 European and non-European countries.
European Patent Office President Benoît Battistelli welcomed this development as good news, saying "The recognition of the European patent by an Asian country demonstrates its global impact, also in the context of a least-developed economy."
Cambodian Minister of Industry and Handicraft, Senior Minister Cham Prasidh, also signed a bilateral cooperation plan, which aims to improve and promote Cambodia's intellectual property system, to encourage foreign direct investment and support the countries' rapidly growing economy.
