Technical Assistant London
Profile of Eleanor Downing

I have a strong background in physics which I enjoy applying to a variety of different technical fields, as well as exploring commercial aspects in my role.

I completed a Master of Physics at the University of Durham, specialising in astrophysics in my final year, where I was awarded the prize for the strongest astronomy master’s project for my work analysing early data from the DESI redshift survey and applying it to investigate clustering of galaxies, and the prize for highest module mark. I also carried out research using cosmological simulations to explore how the evolution of dwarf galaxies affects their rotation curves and consequences for inferring dark matter profiles of observed galaxies.

Since joining the patent team at D Young & Co in September 2023 I have gained experience in the prosecution of UK, European and foreign patent applications. I enjoy working with a wide variety of inventions, ranging from mechanical engineering to electronics and computer-implemented inventions.
