Corey Chapman

I began my patent training in 2021, and joined the biotechnology, chemistry and pharmaceutical team at D Young & Co in 2025. My background is primarily in cell and molecular biology, with a particular interest in cancer biology and therapeutics.
Over the course of my training, I have gained experience in the drafting and prosecution of patent applications before the United Kingdom Intellectual Property Office (UKIPO) and European Patent Office (EPO), participated in freedom-to-operate projects and contributed to cases before the EPO Opposition Division and Boards of Appeal.
I completed my undergraduate studies in biochemistry at the University of Bath, which provided me with a broad theoretical and practical knowledge base across molecular biology, cell biology, developmental biology and immunology. My undergraduate degree included a placement year at GlaxoSmithKline, where I contributed to the development of novel cell-based drug toxicology assays. I went on to complete an MRes at Cardiff University, in which I investigated the molecular mechanisms underpinning acute myeloid leukaemia.
