Bernice Mitchener
I joined the biotechnology team at D Young & Co in 2025 as a technical assistant. I enjoy the exposure to patent application and protection of products outside of my specialism in plant biology, spanning sectors such as human and veterinary pharmaceuticals and food technology.
Since joining D Young & Co, I have assisted with aspects of patent prosecution, opposition and appeal before the European Patent Office (EPO) and worked with overseas law agencies on a wide variety of inventions within the life sciences.
Prior to joining the firm, I worked in the agricultural technology industry as a lab-based biochemist developing plant protection products, particularly fungicides. My postgraduate research and placements related to plant microbiology, plant cell signalling and seed technology.
