Congratulations to Trade Mark Attorney Gemma Kirkland who is listed as one of only 24 UK women featured in the Managing IP 2025 "Top 250 Women in IP" survey.

Managing IP’s Women in IP recognises the leading female IP practitioners in private practice who have performed exceptionally for their clients and firms in the past 12 months.

About Gemma Kirkland

Gemma is a Trade Mark Attorney Partner who before joining private practice gained in-house experience working for BP plc’s Group Trade Marks Department. She joined D Young & Co in 2007.

Gemma has been nominated as UK Trade Mark Attorney of the Year by MIP Global Awards for both 2024 and 2025.

She is ranked as silver in the World Trademark Review 1000 2025 for prosecution and strategy with their write up noting that she is “exceptionally responsive, and offers clear, actionable and practice guidance across various areas, including clearance, prosecution, oppositions and litigation. Her advice is both strategic and goal-oriented, making her a great partner to have on side.” She is also recognised as a leading individual in Legal 500.

Gemma works as a trade mark and design attorney and has experience of acting both before the EUIPO and the UKIPO. She handles the full spectrum of IP matters concerning trade mark and design rights, including clearance, prosecution, oppositions, invalidity and revocation actions, enforcement issues, and company and domain names.
