I’ve been a partner at D Young & Co since 2004 and I love working with such a dynamic team. Every day brings fresh technical and legal challenges and we’re always striving to find the best solutions for our clients.
I’m a European patent attorney and ADR Group accredited mediator, with a focus on life sciences. I have considerable experience before the EPO Opposition Divisions and Appeal Boards. As well as drafting specifications and advising on validity and infringement matters, I handle worldwide prosecution portfolios and provide strategic advice.
I was also involved in Plant Bioscience’s landmark cases G2/07 and G2/13 before the Enlarged Board of Appeal. My work keeps me at the forefront of scientific technology, so I’ve been lucky enough to work with excellent, often award-winning scientists.
My portfolio covers the technical areas of biotechnology and biochemistry, including molecular biology, gene editing techniques, food technology, enzymology, plant biotechnology, antisense oligonucleotides, antibody technology, Chimeric antigen receptors (CARs), diagnostics and therapeutics, stem cell technology and pharmaceuticals. It’s a diverse and ever-changing field – which means my role is equally varied and interesting.
