Solicitor (Soft IP)
You will work for an innovative, successful and growing intellectual property practice, working for an exciting range of clients and acting on IP matters across different intellectual property rights, technologies and commercial contexts.
What you will enjoy
The opportunity to develop your experience of contentious intellectual property further by working on trade mark, patent, design and copyright cases, as well as licensing and other IP-related disputes, including:
- Pre-action advisory work
- Infringement and cancellation proceedings (IPEC, High Court and Patents Court)
- Oppositions and invalidity proceedings at the UKIPO
- Alternative dispute resolution procedures (such as mediation)
- Co-ordinating foreign proceedings and liaising with overseas counsel
- Anti-counterfeiting work including Customs / Trading Standards actions and online take downs
- Domain name disputes (such as Nominet and UDRP)
- Company Names Tribunal cases
- Negotiating and drafting settlement and co-existence agreements
- Providing commercial law advice, drafting and advising on commercial contracts with an IP angle (licence and assignment agreements, non-disclosure agreements, due diligence)
- Assisting with non-IP contentious matters for example, relating to consumer law
What you will need
- 2-7 years post qualification experience
- Experience of contentious soft IP litigation before the IPEC, High Court or Patents Court (designs)
- Postgraduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Law and Practice
- The ability to develop strong working relationships with both colleagues and clients
