Practice & Professional Experience

Tessa’s area of expertise is biotechnology, especially immunology, molecular biology, biochemistry, cellular biology, vaccines, drug delivery, gene sequences, diagnostics and therapeutics. Tessa has experience in working for major pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology companies, academic departments, research institutes, and startups.

Tessa is a solicitor (non-practising) and has patent experience in private practice since 2004. Prior to joining the patent profession, Tessa gained in-house experience while on secondment to the legal department of major oil company. Tessa became fluent in German while working at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory, Heidelberg, Germany.

Qualifications

MA in Natural Sciences, Newnham College, University of Cambridge.
Post-graduate research into assembly of Vaccinia virus in host cells at European Molecular Biology Laboratory,Heidelberg, Germany. Research funded by Cambridge University Kurt Hahn Scholarship.
Post-graduate research into programmed cell death at Cancer Research UK MSc in Intellectual Property Law, Queen Mary, University of London.
European Patent Attorney 2009.
