Stuart’s field of expertise is chemistry and his main area of practice is the pharmaceutical sector (including new chemical entities, chemical processes, pharmaceutical formulations and solid state forms).
Stuart’s portfolio involves drafting and reviewing new patent applications to ensure conformity with European and international practice, patent prosecution and opposition/appeal matters, and providing opinions in respect of freedom to operate and validity.
Stuart specialises in all types of chemical subject matter, particularly polymers, alloys, dietary supplements, oils and lubricating compositions and carbon nanotubes.
Stuart also has experience of advising Scandinavian and American polymer companies.
Stuart has worked in private practice since 2003. He joined D Young & Co in 2008 and became an associate in 2009.
Qualifications
MChem, Christ Church College, Oxford University. Researched optical and electrical diagnostics of gas phase plasmas. Distinction in the aromatic and heterocyclic pharmaceutical chemistry supplementary course.
Certificate in Intellectual Property Law, Queen Mary College, University of London.
European Patent Attorney 2008.
Chartered Patent Attorney 2009.
