Robert Dempster

Practice & Professional Experience

Robert specialises in biotechnology, especially immunology, molecular biology, antibody technology, stem cells and bioinformatics; medical devices; food technology; diagnostics and therapeutics, and pharmaceuticals including drug delivery and formulation. 

Robert has over 10 years of professional experience, particularly in patent drafting and prosecution, opposition and appeal proceedings. His practice involves advising clients ranging from academic institutions to multinational corporations on all aspects of patent law. Prior to joining D Young & Co, Robert worked in-house at Novartis AG and in a private practice in London. He joined D Young & Co in 2006 and became a partner in 2009. 

Qualifications

MA in Natural Sciences, University of Cambridge, specialising in pharmacology.
DPhil in Pharmacology, Department of Pharmacology, University of Oxford, investigating the expression and function of chemokines in inflammation of the central nervous system.
Certificate in Intellectual Property Law, Queen Mary College, University of London, awarded GlaxoSmithKline Prize for Patent Law.
European Patent Attorney 2003.
Chartered Patent Attorney 2003.
