• Specialises in all types of biological subject matter, including food technology, molecular biology, gene/protein sequences, biochemistry, stem cells, plant biotechnology and medical devices.
• Experienced in Opposition and Appeal Proceedings, including Oral Proceedings, before the EPO.
• Regularly prosecutes applications in a large number of territories, including before the EPO, the UK Intellectual Property Office and a large number of foreign Patent Offices, such as in the US, JP, AU, CN, South America and ex-Soviet states, including management of large overseas portfolios.
• Involved in all aspects of patent prosecution and enforcement including drafting specifications and advising on world-wide filing programmes; preparing infringement and freedom to practice opinions; and advising in entitlement disputes.

Professional Experience

Experience in industrial practice as in-house attorney since 1996.

Joined D Young & Co in 2000 and became a Partner 2004.

Clients include large international companies, SMEs, academic departments and foreign attorneys.

Experience travelling to the far East.

Previously worked with cases involving mechanical subject matter, as well as designs.
