IP Law Firm of the Year Award D Young & Co Lawyer Monthly Awards Winner 2011

IP Law Firm of the Year Award D Young & Co Lawyer Monthly Awards Winner 2011

Lawyer Monthly Legal Awards 2011 Recognize D Young & Co LLP as an innovative and high performing UK Intellectual Property Firm.

D Young & Co has been singled out for praise following the firm’s decision to bring together the specialist IP services of patent and trade mark attorneys with those of solicitors in a single Legal Disciplinary Practice (LDP).  D Young & Co was the first UK IP firm to establish an LDP and in so doing raised the bar for the quality and depth of IP services offered in the UK.

The Lawyer Monthly Legal Awards 2011 recognize firms that have dedicated their resources to innovation, built on their depth of expertise and performed outstandingly over the year.

High profile solicitors Ian Starr and Tamsin Holman joined the D Young & Co partnership in January 2011 to launch the firm’s Dispute Resolution & Litigation Group.  The new group has aligned its litigation services with those of D Young & Co’s patent and trade mark teams, creating a ‘one-stop IP shop’ that can handle all client IP related business needs.

The benefits of the LDP structure have been immediately clear, bringing about a more efficient and effective service that reassures clients that they are obtaining the best value for their IP investment. Integrated D Young & Co teams including both solicitors and patent and/or trade mark attorneys can share knowledge, work more efficiently and offer a truly comprehensive IP service.  Pictured above are (from left to right) patent attorney (Electronics, Engineering & IT Group) Anthony Albutt, litigators Tamsin Holman and Ian Starr, patent attorney (Biotechnology, Chemistry & Pharmaceuticals Group) Zöe Clyde-Watson, and trade mark attorney Jeremy Pennant.

Jeremy Pennant, Partner, Trade Marks Group, comments:
"The first few months as the first LDP in our field have been exciting and extremely well received.  The Dispute Resolution & Litigation Group were busy from day one and are already expanding. The benefits to the firm and clients alike have exceeded our expectations."

Ian Starr, Partner, Dispute Resolution & Litigation Group, comments:
"For us (and our clients) being able to rely on the breadth and depth of expert knowledge in IP is a real benefit. Being in a firm whose beating heart is IP is invaluable and exciting."

About Lawyer Monthly

Lawyer Monthly is a substantial monthly legal publication dedicated to reporting legal and financial news. Additionally, each month we create in-depth and insightful legal features for both a legal and corporate reader. With an international readership covering the established jurisdictions of North America and Europe as well a fast growing readership in the emerging countries such as India, Brazil and China Lawyer Monthly is perfectly poised to provide sharp analysis and opinion of the legal world. Our editorial policy focuses on tracking down the latest legal news as well as bringing you big name interviews from the corporate and legal fraternity. The introduction of the Legal Services Act provides for the establishment of Legal Disciplinary Practices (LDPs). These allow patent and trade mark attorneys to work together with solicitors in a single firm offering litigation and dispute resolution services. An LDP is a recognised body providing legal services where the owners and managers are not exclusively solicitors.
