IAM Patent 1000 Ranks D Young & Co as a “Rising Star”
Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) has published the second edition of their extensive guide to leading private practice patent professionals and firms in the world’s key jurisdictions, IAM Patent 1000: The World’s Leading Patent Practitioners 2013. We are delighted to report that IAM highlights D Young & Co as a highly recommended prosecution practice, referring to the firm as a "rising star" that "competes at the highest level on a worldwide basis."
The IAM review writes:
"Clients and peers alike heap bountiful praise upon “rising star” D Young & Co. From offices in London and Southampton, it competes at the highest level on a worldwide basis. “Its critical evaluation of patentability is faultless and its advice on patent strategy and prosecution shows a profound level of understanding of the technology involved.” Opposition work before the EPO is a mainstay, and clients enthuse that “it has the perfect balance between an understanding of the law, complex scientific issues and the budget constraints of a business”. A significant number of mandates arrive from overseas, and the firm has carved out a niche acting for US companies seeking to enter the United Kingdom and Europe. The arrival in 2011 of “seasoned litigator” Ian Starr – “a lawyer of the highest calibre” – has rounded out the group’s capabilities even further. Its contentious department complements the work of the established prosecution group, of which Louise Holliday is a vital member: “Her grasp of science and the opportunities for IP protection and her ability to complete applications in a timely and accurate fashion make her a valuable business partner.” The “exceptionally knowledgeable” Garreth Duncan “really adds value to cases and is a pleasure to work with”. Aylsa Williams is a pillar of the biotechnology group and provides prosecution services for clients ranging from major blue-chips to domestic universities. On the electronics and mechanical side, Anthony Albutt has a proven track record of guiding fledgling companies from the early stages of invention all the way through to worldwide commercialisation."
The IAM rankings are based on extensive research and 1,500 interviews with patent specialists over a five month period, in order to identify the leading players in the field. Individuals qualify for a listing in the IAM Patent 1000 when they receive sufficient positive feedback from peers and clients with knowledge of their practice and the market within which they operate.
We are delighted with the review and grateful to our clients and associates for their contribution and positive comments.
