EPO Board of Appeal Decisions book is published

As part of D Young & Co celebrating 125 years in business, it is with great pleasure that we present this first edition of a synopsis of decisions from the EPO Boards of Appeal.

The decisions have been chosen on the basis of many years of experience in arguing cases before the European Patent Office. In general, they represent some of the most useful and frequently cited decisions used by our patent group during both our defence of and opposition to European patents.

This pocket guide is not only intended as a tool for advocacy. The passages chosen also illustrate some of the fundamental tenets of EPC law and practice. As such, this book has a general applicability for all IP professionals, in addition to those with exposure to or a general interest in IP.

The text associated with each of the decisions is directly quoted from passages in the headnotes or the reasoning in the decision. We are grateful to the EPO for allowing us to reference the decisions, which can be found in full at www.epo.org. At the end of the book we provide some background information regarding the EPO.

The book was co-edited by Charles Harding (Partner) and Antony Latham (Associate), members of our biotechnology, chemistry and pharmaceuticals patent group.

We hope that this publication will be of use in your day to day practice.
