European Qualifying Examination Success and the Appointment of a New Patent Associate
EQE examination success
Congratulations to Robbie Berryman, Nicola Elliot and Ben Husband who have recently obtained excellent European Qualifiying Examination (EQE) results. The EQE is designed to establish whether candidates have the requisite aptitude and knowledge to represent applicants before the European Patent Office (EPO).
Ben Husband, who recently qualified as a Chartered Patent Attorney, successfully passed papers A (which tests the candidate's ability to draft claims and the introductory part of a European patent application) and B (the preparation of a reply to an official letter in which prior art has been cited).
Our congratulations also to Nicola Elliott also passed paper B of the EQE and therefore has qualified as a European Patent Attorney.
Robbie Berryman, who qualified as a Chartered Patent Attorneys in 2010, passed all 4 EQE papers has therefore qualified as a European Patent Attorney. Notably, Robbie's answer for paper C, which involves drafting a notice of opposition to a European patent, is to be published in the EPO's EQE compendium. The compendium contains the examination papers of the EQE, the examiners' reports on each paper and examples of succesful candidates' answers. The compendium can be viewed online at the EPO website.
