Practice & Professional Experience

Jeremy has been practising in the field of trade marks and passing off since 1985. He joined D Young & Co in 1994 and became a partner in 1995.

Jeremy’s clients range from small entrepreneurial start-ups to multinational blue chip companies. He has extensive experience in many sectors including beverages, hotels, boats, charities, petroleum, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and medical equipment, aviation, courier services, film, television, music, sports teams and vehicle manufacturers. Jeremy was one of the original Independent Experts appointed by Nominet to adjudicate on domain name disputes in the UK.

Jeremy has spoken and lectured extensively, not only in Europe, but also in the US and the Far East. Much of Jeremy’s practice relates to the enforcement of clients’ rights. Jeremy is a qualified Trade Mark & Design Litigator.

Chambers UK 2012 notes that Jeremy "is considered a respected trade mark attorney by clients drawn from a wide variety of industries" (Chambers UK 2012 - Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys: UK-wide).  In September 2011 Jeremy is described by Legal 500, who rank the D Young & Co trade mark practice as top tier,  as the ‘very knowledgeable, easy-to-work-with’ Jeremy Pennant.  In 2010 Jeremy was "recommended in the trade marks group, whose client wins include Jamie Oliver Ltd and Baby Cow Productions" (Legal 500 2010).  Jeremy is featured in the most recent edition of the 'MIP Expert Guide to the Leading Trade Mark law Practitioners’ (2011).
