Practice & Professional Experience
Gareth has experience handling a wide variety of subject matter including mechanical devices, high-tech electronics (particularly consumer electronics), computing (hardware and software), mobile communications, LCD technology and spacecraft design and remote sensing technology.
Gareth has worked in private practice at D Young & Co since 2001, handling drafting and prosecution work for both large multinational corporations and SMEs.
Gareth has experience in UK, European and US drafting and prosecution work, as well as experience of patent searching and foreign prosecution in a variety of jurisdictions. He also handles assignment recordal at the EPO and UK IPO.
Before entering the field of intellectual property, Gareth worked for the Civil Service as a scientist and operational analyst in the fields of military aerospace and space technology.
Gareth also tutors on the JDD residential course for candidates taking the CIPA 'Practice' paper.
Qualifications
BSc in Physics with Space Science and Systems, University of Kent at Canterbury.
Certificate in Intellectual Property Law, Queen Mary College, University of London.
European Patent Attorney 2006.
Chartered Patent Attorney 2008.
