The clients of the trade mark group range from major multinationals to individual/sole traders and across a wide range of subject matter. Particular areas of expertise include luxury brands, the fashion industry, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and household goods, sports and entertainment, food and drink.

Our registered trade mark attorneys have experience in all aspects of trade mark protection work ranging from preliminary clearance searches through trade mark filing programmes worldwide, prosecution of applications, appeal and oppositions, as well as litigation experience. Our trade mark attorneys also handle due diligence work, trade mark portfolio reviews and provide infringement advice. All our attorneys are registered trade mark attorneys and therefore qualified to act before the United Kingdom Trade Mark Office and the Community Trade Mark Office in matters concerning trade marks and designs.

Members of the trade mark group are active in providing external presentations and lectures to the IP profession on developments in the law and practice, as well as to clients or prospective clients; they also contribute to and edit loose-leaf publications such as The Trade Mark Handbook and Community Trade Mark Handbook. The team also provides external training, by way of lectures and tutorials to student members of the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys. Gillian Deas is currently President of the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys and sits on the General Purpose & Finance Committee.
